The existing house set within greenbelt and with generous ground when the client approached Black Barn Architecture to see if we could make anything from a series of outbuildings at the back of the existing garden. These included a dilapidated garage and stable block and we looked to make use of the existing volume of the buildings and to set the planning strategy to seek permission for the principle of a residential unit in the first instance and, following a successful application, following up with a full design for a stone and rendered home.

The brief for the home was bright and airy series of rooms with a dramatic entrance hall and feature balcony. The principle bedroom provides a separate dressing room and ensuite, a guest room with ensuite with two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.
